About me

Hi, I’m glad you’re here!

I am 40-something civil engineer, husband, and father of two. Like many people juggling a full-time career and family life, I have had my share of struggles, both physical and mental.

I have dealt with depression and anxiety over the years, and I know firsthand how challenging it can be to prioritize your own health when life gets busy.

My journey back to cycling

I wasn’t always sedentary. As a teenager, I was a competitive swimmer, and I loved the feeling of pushing my body and seeing what it could do. After getting married in 2011, I discovered cycling and fell in love with it all over again. For a couple of years, I rode regularly and felt great. But then life happened – parenting demands took over, and the bike ended up gathering dust in the garage.

Fast forward to 2024, and I found myself at my highest weight ever. That was my wake-up call. I knew I needed to make a change, not just for myself but for my family.

In November 2024, I started on Wegovy, commonly known as Ozempic, and the results were great – I lost 22kg. However my GP was concerned I had lost enough weight.

In July 2025, I took another step and had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy with my wife. I have lost an additional 23kg since that surgery, and continuing to lose weight.

Where am I now

These days, I am rediscovering my love for cycling. Each week, I am riding more and getting faster with each ride. This journey is not about becoming the quickest or the fittest – it is about progress, consistency, and remembering why I fell in love with being on two wheels in the first place.

I am currently looking to connect with other cyclists, find group rides in my area, and possibly even join a cycling club. If you’re on a similar journey – whether you’re just starting out, coming back after a break, or dealing with your own challenges – I hope this blog can be a source of encouragement and community.

Thanks for being here, let us get out and about and join forces to ride our bikes!
